Visitors to Lake Idro can also take the car out on day trips. The western shore of the renowned Lake Garda is a 30-km drive away, through Valle di Ledro which is famed for its lake and prehistoric pile-dwellings. After visiting the typical lakeside towns of Riva, Limone and Gargnano you can drive back to Lake Idro via the enchanting Val Vestino and admire the inaccessible beauty of the emerald green lake. If you drive the 60 km to Madonna di Campiglio you can admire the Brenta Dolomites where the world skiing championships are held in winter. The cable car also operates in the summer months for those who want to see the Alps the lazy way. Or what about a day out in Verona or Venice? Verona, of Romeo and Juliet fame , is an hour and a half’s drive away (100 km) with the famous Arena where operas are staged every summer. Venice is 220 km away, two and a half hours by car. This magnificent lagoonal town, with its vast array of palaces, churches, museums and monuments, is considered by many to rank among the most beautiful towns in the world. The greatest of art, poetry and literature have left deeply traces in Brescia. It is only 50 minutes driving far.
